Two soldiers killed in mine blast near LoC in Kargil

SRINAGAR: Two soldiers were killed in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kargil sector at Ladakh region, a Defence ministry Spokesman said here this evening.

He said during patrolling near LoC in Kargil sector a mine went off, resulting in death of Subedar Basappa Patil and Sepoy Hasansab Khudavand on July 29.

In a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony held at Leh today, the two brave hearts were honoured by all ranks of 14 Corps. Their mortal remains are being flown to their native places, where they will be accorded military funeral, with full ceremonial honours.

Subedar Basappa Patil hails from village Khanajaon, Tehsil Gokak, District – Belgam, Karnataka and is survived by wife Shakunthala, daughter Keerthy and son Prakash. Sepoy Hasansab hails from village  Saidapur, Tehsil Navalagund, District Dharwad, Karnataka and is survived by mother Zeenatbee Khudavand, father Imamsab Khudavand, younger sister Paravenvanu Khudavand and younger brother Mabusab Khudavand.
