Tributes paid to Udham Singh on martyrdom day

JAMMU, July 31: Martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh was observed today by Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee and J&K Freedom Fighters Association.
During separate functions, organized in this regard, rich tributes were paid to freedom fighter and great revolutionary, who was hanged to death on July 31, 1940, in Pentonville Prison in London.
A one day seminar was organized by Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Jee Complex,   Chand Nagar, Jammu wherein speakers, including Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Advocate Hari Chand Jalmeria, Krishan Koushal and others threw light on the life and supreme sacrifice of Sardar Udham Singh
J&K Freedom Fights Association organized a programme at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, under the chairmanship of Ved Gandotra. On the occasion candles were lit in honour of the martyr besides observing a two-minute silence to remember the hero of freedom struggle.
Expressing their concern over killing of youth, who were being instigated by separatists, the member urged the Government to put leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz behind the bar.
