JAMMU, July 31: In a meeting of the BJP district presidents, district prabharis and Morcha State presidents chaired by party State president & MLA Sat Sharma along with MP Rajya Sabha Shamsher Singh Manhas, threadbare discussions were held and 15 days programmes and celebration of the 70th Independence Day were finalised.
Sat Sharma, while speaking in the meeting, said that the nation is going to celebrate 70th Independence Day this year and the party at the national level has decided to organize massive programmes across the country from August 9 to 23 and named it as “Azaadi 70 or Independence 70”. He asked the leaders attending the meeting to start preparatory arrangements for the programmes in their respective districts and mandals.
Sat Sharma said that under Azaadi 70, the Prime Minister will launch these programmes by inaugurating 70th Freedom Year March on August 09, to be followed by visits of Union Ministers and important leaders to the birth places of national icons and places of historical importance related to India’s independence movement, visits of women ministers to borders and tie rakhis to soldiers on Raksha Bandhan, kith and kin of martyrs, freedom fighters, INA heroes and ex-soldiers who have been conferred with gallantry /bravery awards will be felicitated, candle light freedom march involving students and youth will be taken out, State wise Independence Exhibitions to be organized, celebratory campaign to promote use of Khadi and number of others events will be undertaken.
“Modi sarkar aapke dwaar theme song with various schemes and welfare programmes for the common man launched by PM Narendra Modi led Government will be highlighted”, he said.
Shamsher Singh Manhas informed the meeting that all the MPs will take up Tiranga Yatra from August 15 to August 22 on motor cycles and cycles with national flags. Different departments under Union Ministries have also been involved at the Government level under Azaadi 70. He briefed that Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will prepare collage of patriotic songs and ensure playing of patriotic songs for three days on AIR, DD and FM, video. Similarly, Ministries of HRD, Textiles, Youth Affairs & Sports, Culture, Tourism, Defence, Rural Development, Woman & Child Welfare will also contribute towards Azaadi 70 by organizing variety of programmes and events across the country.
BJP State general secretaries Pawan Khajuria, Dr. Narinder Singh and Harinder Gupta also shared the dais with the President.
