3 killed in 2 mishaps

KATHUA, July 31: Three persons died in two separate mishaps in Kathua district since late last night.
According to Police in a  tragic accident a driver and a conductor of a trala bearing registration number J05AV2416 which was on its way from Rajasthan to Jammu died at Lakhanpur after they parked their vehicle in Lakhanpur yard late last night.
The police said the duo after parking the vehicle in the yard brought two seats from the vehicle and slept on them in front of trala late last night. When the duo was in fast asleep a vehicle came from behind and it hit the trala and with the impact of the push it received from other vehicle the trala moved ahead and ran over the driver and conductor who were sleeping in front of it.
The duo was identified as Hem Raj Jat, 42 S/o Bheg Nath and Pokhraj 37, S/o Jagdish Raj Jat both residents of Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Panic griped the Lakhanpur after the accident and all the drivers as well as conductors of other vehicles parked in side the yard as well as the staff of Toll Post rushed to the spot. The police immediately swung into action and shifted the duo to DH Kathua where Hem Raj was declared as brought dead while Pokhraj was shifted to GMC Jammu in a serious condition where he too breathed his last this morning.
The Lakhanpur Police has registered a case under Section 304 RPC. The dead bodies will be handed over to family members tomorrow after postmortem. The police has informed the two families and they will reach Lakhanpur tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a teenager drowned in a village pond at Ghalak falling in the jurisdiction of Ramkote Police Post in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district today.
He was identified as Uday Chand, 15, S/o Chander Kant of Ghalak.
Police said the boy had gone to pond for bathing but drowned there as he did not know swimming. The police has taken the cognizance of the incident but has not registered a formal FIR as yet in the case. The body will be handed over to family after postmortem at Ramkote Hospital tomorrow.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured after there was ahead on collision between a van and a Tata Safari at Maheshwar bridge on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district today.
The injured were identified as Jyoti, 42, W/o Sham Lal of Rehshamgarh Jammu and her son Lakhan, 15. The duo was taken to DH Samba for treatment wherefrom doctors referred them to GMC&H Jammu.
