MENDHAR, Aug 1: The Government teachers, who were recently transferred in the district held strong protest against the higher authorities in the department for befooling them on the name of ‘Transfers Mela’ and alleged that they were not placed at either of the place where they had proposed during the so called fair.
A large number of teachers including females from Mankote, Harni and Mendhar Education Zones assembled at main Chowk Mendhar town today and started protest demonstration. They raised slogans against Director School Education Jammu, Samita Sethi, CEO Poonch Lal Hussain and DyCEO Poonch and alleged that some favourites of the officers were provided choice postings but majority of the staff was not placed as per the four choices sought during the Transfers Mela held recently in the district.
Agitating teachers blocked Poonch-KG-Mendhar- Jammu road for about two hours and raised slogans against Education Minister, MoS Education besides officers of the department. They appealed to the higher authorities to review the list issued by CEO Poonch. They also condemned the role of Principal, Govt Higher Secondary School Boys, Mendhar for using abusive language against some females teachers under transfer and demanded action against him.
Later, SDM Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh, SDPO Shahid Nahim reached the spot and pacified the agitating teachers. Later, the teachers went o the office chamber of SDM and submitted a memorandum, which he forwarded to the DC Poonch.
