Bail denied to trans-border heroin smugglers

JAMMU, Aug 2: 1st Additional Sessions Judge MA Chowdhary today rejected the bail application of Sukh Chain Singh and Satinder Singh, trans-border narco smugglers, who were arrested by the NCB team along with 2 kilograms of Heroin and Rs 1 lakh cash.
After hearing both sides, 1st Additional Sessions Judge MA Chowdhary observed, “epidemic of drugs in young generation has assumed alarming dimensions in India. Changing cultural values, increasing economic stress and dwindling supportive bonds are leading to initiation into drugs abuse”, adding “drug addiction causes immense human distress and the illegal production and distribution of drugs have spawned crime and violence worldwide”.
“No part of world is free from curse of drug trafficking and drug addiction. Millions of drug addicts, all over the world, are leading miserable lives, between life and death. Drug abuse is a complex phenomenon, which has various social, cultural, biological, geographical, historical and economic aspects.  Drug abuse has led to a detrimental impact on the society. It has led to increase in the crime rate”, the court further observed and rejected the bail application.
