JAMMU, Aug 3: Bari Brahmana Industries Association has claimed that massive damage has been caused to the power infrastructure in Bari Brahmana Industrial complex due to recent rains and wind storm and PDD authorities should restore the same on war footing.
A meeting of the members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held here today under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan, president BBIA to discuss the issue regarding the disruption in the power supply to number of units for the last more than 36 hours due to damage caused to power infrastructure due to heavy rain and wind storm.
The members pointed out that due to massive growth of Eucalyptus trees along the power supply lines inside the complex as the PDD failed to take effective steps for the branch cutting of trees. In last one month, the massive damage was done to the infrastructure of power supply lines and the Department has failed to restore the power supply in time due to non availability of requisite spare parts/ poles in the complex to replace the damaged infrastructure.
The Department is not taking this issue seriously due to which the industrialists are facing huge Financial loss, production losses and machinery breakdown. Even in case of any power break down in the night shift, no one is available to rectify the fault.
Industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing nearly Rs 120 crore towards the cost of power supplied to Industrial area but the department is not serious about the maintenance of regular power supply of the complex due to which the industrial units are suffering very badly.
BBIA appealed to the Dy Chief Minister (Minister Incharge Power) Dr Nirmal Singh and Chander Parkash, Industries & Commerce Minister to intervene into the matter and issue necessary orders to the concerned officials for the storage of requisite spare parts and poles in the Industrial complex .
The meeting was attended by Varun Singla, vice president, Ajay Langer general secretary, Viraaj Malhotra secretary/ treasurer BBIA and other prominent industrialists.
