Horticulture is backbone of State’s economy: Ravinder

JAMMU, Aug 6: MLA Nowshera, Ravinder Raina today conducted a tour of Sunderbani block with S Kirtan Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer Rajouri, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sunderbani and Horticulture Development Officer Sunderbani alongwith staff.
The MLA kick started the plantation work and planted fruit plants at about 13 places and projects located at Punne De Kheter, Kangri Ghai Bhajwal, Balshama, Patrara and Dhok Banyar.
While addressing the gathering, Ravinder Raina, said horticulture is backbone of J&K’s economy and urged the local who have more interest in developing horticulture orchid in Nowshera and Sunderbani that by developing horticulture orchid the farmers can earn more benefits and it can reduce the problem of unemployment and backwardness.
Raina said the Jammu province has more potential than Kashmir in horticulture development but was deliberately ignored. But now, the present Government has put all efforts to develop Jammu region as the hub of horticulture. The Central Government has initiated so many steps in developing horticulture and the farmers should come forward to take benefit of schemes launched by PM Narendra Modi.
The Chief Horticulture Officer Kirtan Singh Raina, said the State Government has initiated so many steps to boost the horticulture in Rajouri district. He asked the farmers to get more benefits of new horticulture schemes and assured the farmers that in coming days special awareness camp will be organized in Nowshera and Sunderbani to make farmers aware of the new technique. He said Nowshera and Sunderbani area has very high scope for developing citreous fruit, mango and medicinal plant.
SDM Sunderbani Kartar Singh, while speaking said the farmers should ensure the proper care of new fruit plants and added that more and more orchid should be developed in the area.
