JAMMU, Aug 6: A young girl was today crushed to death when her two-wheeler was hit by a truck at Panama Chowk here in this winter capital of the State.
“A girl identified as Nisha Sharma (24), daughter of Punnu Chand Sharma, resident of Bakshi Nagar died on the spot when a truck No JK02R-7685 hit her scooty bearing registration number JK02BG-5047 this afternoon at Panama Chowk,” a police spokesman said.
He said that the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting postmortem, it was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
“The accused truck driver identified as Balwant Singh son of Vakil Singh, resident of Nagbani (Jammu) was arrested and a case against him registered at police station Gandhi Nagar”, the spokesman said, adding both the vehicles involved in the accident were also seized.
