LOS ANGELES, Aug 8: Actress Rebel Wilson is going to star in the the latest female-led reboot of Hollywood classic “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”.
The “Pitch Perfect” star will play lead in the new version of the Steve Martin and Michael Caine classic, reported Variety.
Like in the 1988 comedy (which was itself a remake of Marlon Brando’s ‘Bedtime Story’), “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels 2.0” pits two con artists against each other as they try to scam the rich – only this time they’ll both be women.
“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” is the latest in a string of Hollywood hits being re-branded around female casts – fresh off the USD 160 million made by the “Ghostbusters” reboot.
There’s also an “Ocean’s Eleven” spinoff starring Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling and Disney’s black female “Rocketeer” in the works. (PTI)
