Manhas apprises Javadekar of Sanskrit scholars’ problems

NEW DELHI Aug 8: Today Rajya Sabha M.P Shamsher Singh Manhas put forward problems of Sanskrit scholars,  to  Prakash Javadekar  Union HRD  Minister and briefed him about the present conditions of Sanskrit language in J&K State.
A few days ago a delegation of  Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust led by president Mahant Rohit Shastri met  Mr Manhas  for setting up Sanskrit departments in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University   (SMVDU), Central University of Jammu & Kashmir to provide a platform for facilitating education and research in the field of this ancient heritage  language.
Mr Manhas informed the Minister that the scholars and teachers working in the field of Sanskrit language don’t get enough opportunities and exposure to enhance their knowledge their field.
He further told Mr Javedkar that he (Manhas ) was informed by the delegation that Jammu is known as the city of temples but the students pursuing studies in Sanskrit and aspiring to have career in this field have to suffer on account of dearth of facilities and lack  of opportunities.
He said  Mahant Rohit Shastri appealed him  that exclusive department in SMVDU and CU J&K be introduced  for promoting Sanskrit language and facilitating aspirants who want to learn and excel through pursuing studies in this language.
Shastri further requested that deteriorating condition of Sanskrit language in the State be raised in Rajya Sabha  and teaching of the language be made compulsory from the 6th standard in schools so that the more number of scholars get appointed in schools and new carrier opportunities get opened up for them.
