7-day Translators’ Orientation Programme concludes at JU

JAMMU, Aug 8: Seven day Translators’ Orientation Programme for Knowledge Text Translation into Dogri concluded here today at Prof Gyan Chand Seminar Hall, Department of Urdu, University of Jammu (JU).
The programme was organized by the Department of Dogri, University of Jammu in collaboration with National Translation Mission, CIIL, Mysore.
Dr Aziz Hazni, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL), Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion.
In his valedictory address, Dr Hazni said that it was matter of happiness that PG Department of Dogri organized this type of programme for the benefit of scholars. He also lauded the efforts of National Mission Translation, CIIL, Mysore for working tirelessly for the promotion of regional languages of the State.
“I hope the knowledge gathered here multiplies and the output is documented for the transfer of knowledge from English to Dogri medium,” he added. He also distributed certificates among the participants of the programmes.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, HoD Dogri, said that it is the need of the hour to hold such programmes in order to train the scholars in the field of translation as it is very pertinent to familiarize themselves with the latest and modern techniques of translation. She also highlighted the importance and relevance of this programme.
Ritu Kumar Sharma, a Research Scholar of the department, presented the report of all the seven days of the programme whereas Abhimanu Singh and Radha Rani, participants of the programme shared their experiences.
Prof Shiv Dev Singh Manhas while speaking on the occasion highlighted the relevance of this programme in the literary field and hoped that participants might have learned a lot during all the days of the programme.
The programme was attended by the large number of scholars, intellectuals and faculty members of the University. Sunil Choudhary from NMT, CIIL Mysore, proposed the vote of thanks while Dr Sushma Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.
