Jammu : Another batch of 81 pilgrims today left for Buddha Amarnath from Yatri Niwas Bhawan here. A fresh batch of 81 devotees left the base camp early this morning in a convoy of three vehicles. The total yatris comprised 50 males, 29 females and two children. Tight security arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh yesterday flagged off the first batch of Buddha Amarnath Yatra. Buddha Amarnath–dedicated to Hindu deity Shiva, is one of the oldest shrines of Jammu region. It is located in the village of Rajpura at Mandi tehsil of Poonch district. The Pulasta river, which flows by the temple, is considered to be sacred, where pilgrims take bath before entering the place of worship. A mythological legend is associated with the river and it has been named after Rishi Pulasta, grandfather of Ravana. (Agencies)
