JAMMU, Aug 10: In order to spread the radiance of theatre to districts and not limiting it to just city areas, Natrang transported its mass awareness theatre to the remotest part of the State where larger number of locals came to see this theatre happening with immense enthusiasm.
The place was village Gulpur (Poonch) where Natrang staged its highly socially relevant plays with the support of Indian Army. The plays included ‘Suno Eh Kahani’, ‘Choona Hai Aasmaan’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur and ‘Soch’ directed by Rahul Singh. The most noteworthy feature of the presentations was the use of language and the local idioms.
The productions were devised by Balwant Thakur in such an imaginative manner that audience was identifying with each situation and act created in the plays as if these plays were speaking about them and their village problems. Aimed at effectively educating the general masses, these plays spoke about burning human concerns like ‘Save the Girl Child’, ‘Women empowerment and education’ ‘Sanitation Education- Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’, ‘Communal harmony’ ‘National integration’ and ‘Peace, the pre-requisite for overall development’.
