Partial bandh in Poonch

POONCH, Aug 10: A partial bandh was observed by the members of one community in protest  against the alleged beating up of  a customer  by a trader over minor issue.
Though police arrested the trader and his father, for beating up the customer who happened to be religious man,  but some people tried to flare up communal tension and forced bandh by one community.  Some youth during the day,  tried to take out protest march but police resorted to cane charge and dispersed them.
Earlier,  during late evening DC and SSP Poonch called meeting of the prominent persons of all the communities and asked them to help administration in maintaining communal harmony  and peace as Budha Amarnath Yatra was also going on. The meeting ended till mid night with the assurance of cooperation from all. But in the morning, the bandh was forced by some people with the intension to disturb peace.  However, with the prompt and effective action of  police,  the situation was controlled..
