Increase in public grievances; over 6 lakh received so far:Govt

NEW DELHI, Aug 11:
There has been an increase in public grievances against government departments with over six lakh such complaints having been received so far this year, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today. About 6.09 lakh complaints have been received on the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) between January 1 and August 5, this year. A total of 8.79 lakh such complaints were received last year as against about 2.7 lakh in 2014, he said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
“The increase is due to a number of citizen-friendly measures taken by the government, particularly integration of Prime Minister Office Public Grievances Redress Mechanism with CPGRAMS, periodic review of grievances through pro-active governance and timely implementation (PRAGATI) platform by the Prime Minister, regular review meetings for monitoring pendency of grievances by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and also higher expectations of the citizens from the Government,” Singh said.
