Engage all stakeholders in dialogue: KPS

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Aug 11: A meeting of the Executive Body of KP Sabha, Ambphalla, was held here today under the chairmanship of  K. K. Khosa  to discuss the prevailing political scenario of the State. The Sabha has welcomed the initiative of the Central Government to call in an all party meeting to defuse the current unrest in the Valley.
Though the move may seem to be a belated one  there is no denying its importance at this crucial juncture since the turmoil in the Valley is now threatening to spill over to other parts of the State as well although it has already affected the normal life throughout the State. The Sabha appealed the all party meeting to discuss all aspects of the problem and put up well conceived and practicable recommendations to the Government so that the situation can be retrieved to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders who are eagerly awaiting the restoration of peace and harmony in this turmoil ridden State.
The meeting said since this is just the beginning of the dialogue process it is expected that this exercise will be an inclusive affair in which aspirations of all sections of society will be debated and people from all regions of the State participate. Since the State is a composite one, leaving out any section will render the dialogue process useless and is likely to create problems in future, it added.
After all party meeting is held in Delhi the delegation must visit the State and engage with all stake holders including Kashmiri Pandits both at Jammu and Srinagar before finalizing its proposals which must then be implemented in letter and spirit by both the Union and the State Governments. The Sabha also appeals all stakeholders to be pragmatic and accommodative to aspirations of different sections of the population which is not only diverse culturally, but also in respect of region and religion. “It has to be accepted that we all have to co-exist in this diversity that we have inherited and any kind of intolerance will continue to spell disaster for the entire State. It is time, we introspect collectively to assess where we have reached in these seven decades of independence in comparison with the other States of the nation” it added.
Those who participated in the meeting were A. K. Braroo, S. L. Bhagati, G J Kampasi, B. L. Tiku, Ashok Khar, Subash Dhar, Dr. Ashok Koul, Mrs Shamma Handoo and others.
