Labour Deptt officials, Police HC in Vigilance net for accepting bribe

JAMMU, Aug 12: In separate cases of accepting bribe by the public servants, the Vigilance Organization Jammu has registered two FIRs.
In FIR number 18/2016, officers and official of Labour Department Poonch have been booked while in FIR 19/2016, case has been registered against a Police Head Constable for forcing the complainant to pay him bribe twice.
The officers and officials of Assistant Labour Commissioner’s office, Poonch were booked following verification conducted by Vigilance Organization into the complaint lodged by Patron of JK Sahara Federation. The accused officials had allegedly demand and accepted bribe from the labourers of Poonch during the year 2011-12 in lieu of their registration in Labour Department for becoming eligible to get Government assistance under a scheme.
These labourers were asked to pay the bribe by Abdul Aziz Bhatti, the then Assistant Labour Commissioner Poonch, Romesh Chander, Process Server and Mohd Naseem, Care Taker of Labour Department Poonch, for providing the registration cards. These officials demanded and accepted Rs 5000, Rs 6000 and Rs 8000 respectively from various beneficiaries/labourers in order to issue registration cards on their names and thereafter sanction respective assistance in their favour.
In the second FIR, a Police Head Constable, namely Khursheed Ahmad of Police Station Dharamsal Rajouri, was booked by the Vigilance Organization for repeatedly demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant Abdul Khaliq of Kalakote, Rajouri who was arrested in complaint lodged u/s 107/151 Cr.PC and case FIR No.110/2013 u/s 456/379 RC P/S Dharamsal during the year 2013.
Verification revealed that on 04.10.2013, HC Khursheed Ahmed took the complainant and his brother to P/S Dharamsal, in connection with the complaint and received Rs 27000 from them for produced them before the Executive Magistrate Kalakote.
On 30.12.2013, the complainant went again to P/S Dharamsal with a written complaint regarding threat given to him by one Kalu son of Gafoor, duly marked by SP Rajouri to SHO Dharamsal. However, HC Khurhseed Ahmed tore the complaint and put the complainant behind the bars and demanded Rs 5000/- to Rs 6000/- from him. The complainant called his brother and brother-in-law who were also put behind the bars by the said HC. The HC Khurhseed Ahmed took a bribe of Rs 32,000 – from the victims to release them.
