Undeterred by terror attack, 2211 pilgrims reach Poonch

JAMMU, Aug 14: Undeterred by terrorists attack on Yatra at Poonch last evening, a large group of 2211 pilgrims in 52 vehicles arrived Poonch town this evening for the onward journey to Shri Budha Amarnath ji shrine at Mandi town near the LoC.
Official sources said that 1261 pilgrims in 27 buses and 12 light vehicles started their journey from Bhagwati Nagar base camp at Jammu in the morning. After taking breakfast at Sunderbani and lunch at Rajouri in the Langars, the pilgrims arrived Poonch town at around 7 pm. On the way, about 950 more pilgrims in 25 vehicles joined them. They were mostly from different districts of Jammu region including Reasi, Rajouri and Udhampur.
These pilgrims have been accommodated in various Government buildings and SD Sabha Bhawan, Geeta Bhawan and Akhara Mandir complex. They will leave for the shrine at Mandi under tight security tomorrow morning.
It may be recalled that last evening at around 8 pm, 18 persons including pilgrims were injured in grenade attack at the gate of Akhara Mandir, Poonch. Undeterred by the threat of attack from the terrorists, a large number of pilgrims from various parts of the country and the region arrived Poonch this evening.
