134 perform darshan at holy cave

JAMMU, Aug 14: As the 48 day long Swami Amarnath yatra has entered the last phase, the holy mace of Lord Shiva will leave for the cave shrine from Pahalgam early tomorrow morning via the traditional Chandanwari-Sheshnag track.
Led by Mahant Deepindra Giri the custodian of the holy mace, it will have a night halt at Chandanwari tomorrow.
During its halt at Pahalgam where the holy mace reached from its abode Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar yesterday traditional pooja -archana was performed today by Sadhus and devotees. The yatris putting up at Pahalgam also participated in the Pooja -archna.
Meanwhile, on 44th day of yatra today, 134 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave. With this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance at cave shrine has touched 2,19,928 since the yatra started on July 2.
According to an official spokesman 44 pilgrims left from Baltal to holy cave today while 82 pilgrims left from Chandanwari transit camp to holy cave. They included 58 pilgrims who left from Nunwan base camp in the early morning.
He said 35 pilgrims returned to Nunwan base camp after performing darshan at holy cave while 10 pilgrims are staying at Nunwan for night halt.
He said 123 pilgrims left Pahalgam for Jammu late last night.
The spokesman said 34 pilgrims left for two base camps from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas today in two buses. Among them one bus will leave for darshan of holy cave via traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam track tomorrow while another will leave via shortest Baltal track, he added.
