Jawan kills associate after minor tiff

RAJOURI, Aug 17: An Army jawan gunned down his associate after a minor tiff in Gambhir area of district Rajouri last night.
A police spokesman said that incident took place inside an Army unit at Gambhir Brahmana at around 8.30 pm. He said jawan Mohd Aziz-ul-Mulla of 898 ASC Battalion had some tiff with soldier Darinder Kumar of his own unit. Both had gone to the mess for taking dinner. However, other jawans intervened and tried to resolve the matter.
After some time, Darinder Kumar went on Santary duty at unit office along with his weapon. He again moved to the mess with his loaded gun and fired on Mohd Aziz-ul-Mulla and killed him on the spot. The other jawans over powered him and snatched his rifle and informed Unit Commander. The senior officers rushed there and they took Darinder Kumar into custody.
Later, they informed Rajouri police which shifted the dead body to the mortuary of the hospital. A case was registered in this connection. The jawans has been arrested. The Army also ordered court of inquiry into the matter.
