ARIYALUR, Sept 27: Ultra Tech Cement Limited, Reddipalayam Cement Works, Reddipalayam, near here has been conferred two prestigious awards recently.
A company press release said here today that it has bagged KSPCB Green Award 2012 and CII Energy Efficient Award 2012. The Green Award 2012 was presented by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to V Ganesan, Executive President and unit head of Reddipalayam Cement Works recently.
The Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has instituted this award for excellence in green initiatives taken by the industries in this particular zone.
Ultra Tech Cement Limited was presented a shield and a certificate in recognition of various green initiatives undertaken by the unit. It has been taking various steps to protect the environment and towards efficiently managing and conserving energy, it added.
On the environment side, more than a lakh saplings have been planted on the factory premises, colony and mining areas.
The unit was also conferred CII Energy Efficient Award 2012 for the energy efficient unit and the award for the most useful presentation delivered in the Energy Efficiency Summit-2012 organised by the CII in Hyderabad, the release added. (UNI)
