Restrictions violated at 21 places, people clashed with security forces

SRINAGAR: People violated restrictions and hit the streets at 21 places and clashed with security forces in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said here this evening.

He said 21 incidents of stone pelting were reported after Friday prayers from Sopore, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Handwara, Bandipora and Pulwama.

He said that restrictions under section 144 CrPC remained in force in Kashmir valley. “Curfew was imposed in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kaloosa in Bandipora and in the towns of Anantnag, Shopian and Pampore,” he said. However, there was no mention of injuries in these incidents.

The statement further said that last evening unknown militants hurled a grenade towards the residential house of ex-MLA Shopian, Sheikh Mohammad Rafi at village Kachdoora, Shopian which exploded without causing any damage. “A case stands registered at police station Shopian and investigation taken up,” he said.
