JAMMU, Aug 19: Stating that bandh will affect normal life, State president Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan on Friday appealed to the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu, which have given a Jammu Bandh call on various issues, to alter the mode of protest in the interest of public.
In a press conference here, Rajiv Mahajan said that observing Bandh was nothing but punishing ourselves. It was better to choose alternative methods of protest to attract the attention of people concerned.
Rajiv said, bandhs would affect the public especially the ongoing pilgrimage in Jammu province.
“In the interest of public and pilgrims, we should adopt other methods like staging dharna or putting pressure on the elected representatives to fight out the elements responsible for present unrest in Valley,” Rajiv said.
“We should find out different ways to make the Government act, instead of penalising ourselves,” he added.
Rajiv Mahajan also urged the general public, traders, transporters and others not to participate in or support Bandh call given by CCI as such programmes would disrupt the normal life in Jammu region like Kashmir Valley.
Rajiv said that Kashmir traders provided immediate relief compensation but the interests of Jammu traders were not watched despite they are equally affected with the brunt of rains and floods.
