Patta- Bohri residents protest, oppose flats on Govt land

JAMMU, Aug  21: Opposing construction of  flats and colonies on the Government  land  in connivance with the land mafia, instead of developing parks and other public facilities, the residents  from Patta-Bohri area of Jammu today held protest demonstration and took out a rally.
The people under the banner of  All Mohalla Welfare Society Patta Bohri assembled near Kashmir Hill Resorts and then took out a rally. Local social activist Rajveer Singh was leading. They were opposing construction  of  flats in the thickly populated  area on a piece of land owned by Auqaf  department. They demanded that Govt should develop a park and not flats on the land.
A large number of women of the area also joined the protest. They were carrying banners and placards and raising slogans against the Govt,  JDA and Auqaf authorities. They warned that such move of the government would be strongly opposed by the locals of the area.
They also condemned the policy of the government and alleged that in connivance with the mafia, it is raising such constructions on the Government land.  Rajveer pointed out that big housing flats Kamdenu and Royal Palm have come up in the Patta area  to add to the pollution and congestion in the locality. He urged upon the DyCM to personally intervene and utilize the said land for raising public park. Devinder Sharma, Bharat Bhushan, Ramesh Sharma also addressed the rally.
