JAMMU, Aug 21: Samooh Theatre staged a comedy play “Chitta Singh”, an adaptation of Fritz Karnethe’s “The Refund”. The play was adapted and directed by Ravinder Sharma.
The play Chitta Singh is full of humour which deals with an extraordinarily ludicrous situation. The main character in the play is Chitta Singh. He is forty years old unemployed person as he is dubbed as good for nothing.
One day, someone says that when he has not gained any knowledge, he should go to school and ask for refund of tuition fees that he had paid, while studying. The idea strikes Chitta Singh and goes back to school.
When he asks for the refund of his tuition fees, the principal gets shocked. He calls for an urgent meeting with staff members. They decide to re-examine Chitta Singh and prove Chitta Singh right even if he gives wrong answer. One by one, each teacher questions him and justified his wrong answer to be correct one and they mark him excellent. Though, Chitta Singh gives wrong answers and uses abusive words to each teacher, yet they don’t show their anger.
At last the mathematics master asks him a difficult question and traps him. Chitta Singh is proved excellent and thrown out of the school.
Makhan Lal Saraf was the chief guest, while Baljeet Raina and Kumar A Bharti were guests of honor on the occasion.
The actor who performed in this play were Ravinder Sharma as Chitta Singh, Neeraj Sethi as Principal, Vishal Singh as Receptionist, Aditya Pandita as Physics Teacher, Samdhish as Geography Teacher, Sandeep Manhas as History Teacher, Chetan Charak as Math’s Teacher, Shammi Dhammir as New Student. Amika Bali, Hempreet Kour and Neha Kesar helped in Back Stage work of the play.
