JAMMU, Aug 22: A National Integration Tour under Operation Sadbhavana for 25 children of border villages of Poonch district was flagged off today under the aegis of Ace of Spades Division.
Commander, Poonch Army addressed the children before flagging-off the tour. The tour shall visit Delhi, Chandigarh and Patiala from August 22 to 28.
The tour is organized under Garhi Battalion for 15 boys and 10 girls from the remote border villages of Degwar, Bagialdhara, Shahpur and Ajote along with two teachers including a lady teacher.
In addition to DC Poonch, various civilian dignitaries, village heads and parents of children graced the occasion. The children sounded very enthusiastic and were looking forward for their first travel experience in the `Rajdhani Express’ and visit to Amusement Park, Qutab Minar, National Institute of Sports, India Gate, Ellante Mall, Tank Ride of T-90 Tank and Chatbir Zoo to name a few.
The tour will also have a prized privilege to interact with the Minister of Sports and Youth, Vijay Goel’ and renowned blade runner of India, Major DP Singh (Retd)’.
The tour shall provide an excellent opportunity to the under privileged and poor children of remote border areas to visit the National Capital, Chandigarh and National Institute of Patiala. This initiative is yet another step undertaken by the Army towards highlighting the importance of peace and development in the young minds, who will be immensely benefitted from such experience.
