SAMBA, Aug 22: “Youth plays a pivotal role in Nation building”, said DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Ashkoor Wani, while speaking during a function organized by District Rifle Association Samba at Bhargav Residency to felicitate the medal winners.
Addressing the gathering that included retired Army officers, advocates and social workers, Wani said that it pinches very much that our nation having population of 125 crore is lagging behind in medals in Olympics while a small nation like America having population of about 35 crore is on winning spree. He said the basic reason for this is poor infrastructure in sports.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Advocate Subash Singh, president, Bar Association, Samba, exhorted the youths for enhancing their game skills by practicing hard. He said shooting needs concentration of the mind and thus, increases mental power.
District president of Rifle Association, Anupam Singh, said besides the poor infrastructure, his students got maximum medals in the shooting competition.
Chairman, Team Jammu and Secretary General, Press Club of Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, while presenting vote of thanks exhorted to the participants to be sports-addicted and academic-addicted than drug addicted which is forcing our younger generations towards a dead end.
