MENDHAR, Aug 31: A Gov-ernment school in Ghani area of Balnoi , near the LoC in district Poonch is lying closed for the last about 20 days.
The people from Khour Dharra village alleged that in the local Govt Middle School, out of the seven teachers only one has been left. While one has proceeded on long leave, the others have managed attachments at other places of their convenience through ZEO and DyCEO concerned. Now, only one teacher has been left there and he too, was not regular. The local villagers and Panchayat members brought the matter to the notice of ZEO but there was no action at all.
After this, the agitated villagers put a lock at the school and it was lying closed for the last about twenty days. No body bothered over the matter. The villagers further disclosed that last year there were about 120 children but this year hardly forty have been left as the locals have withdrawn their wards due to utter negligence on the part of School Education Department officials concerned.
CEO, Poonch Lal Hussain when contacted said that matter regarding shortage of teachers at the school came to his notice through people of the area only yesterday and he had sent ZEO there yesterday. He claimed that he has ordered posting of two teachers there. One had gone on long leave while one Master Grade had not joined there. He denied the report of closure of this school for the last over twenty days.
