Company eying Rs 213 cr target, despite Valley unrest growth still 25%

JAMMU, Sept 1: Celebrating its 60th year of  foundation across the J&K State and the country as well, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has focused its eyes on the business target of  Rs 213 crore during this financial year in the State.
Addressing a press conference here today, Senior Divisional Manager Srinagar Division, TS Bali said that LIC is commemorating 60th continuous year in the service to the nation. As a part of  its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the LIC will organize different programme like medical and health check up camps, painting contests, cleanliness and plantation drives etc across the State during this week commencing September Ist.  He said there are 17 LIC branches and 14 Satellite offices across the State and under each branch all such programmes will be organised during this week. LIC (Sgr Div)  is adopting a village as part of  Social Responsibility  Programme  and each branch would adopt a school and provide facilities worth Rs 25,000 this year.
Referring to the business  target to the company , Mr Bali disclosed that during this financial year 2016-17, Company has given a target of Rs 213 crore to the Srinagar Division ( J&K State).  The company during last year has settled 2533 death claims worth Rs 37.59 crore  and 103903 maturity  and SB claims of Rs 428.75 crore.   During first five months of this year,  the Srinagar Division managed 41000 policies  and Rs 61 crore as first premium income. In addition to that Rs 125 core has been collected through Pension and Group Schemes. The renewal premium collected by the Division is worth Rs 177 crore.                He said due to turmoil in Kashmir there has been some decline in business but still,  the LIC is showing growth rate of 25 %  so far in the State, which is good sign.
The SDM said company’s main business and growth has been recorded in Jammu division having ten branches  and nine Satellite offices here.  He hoped that with the improvement in the situation in Kashmir the company business would pick up.
Mr Bali disclosed that LIC having more than 5000 agents, 180 Development Officers  and 170 CLIAs in the State, is offering policies to all segments having 23 new plans, ranging from Term Insurance, Health Insurance, Pension Plans, Children Insurance, Endowment  & Whole Life Plans.
“ For agents of the LIC there is good news. The Rural Carrier Agents (RCAs) would now get Rs 5000 while Urban Carrier Agents (UCAs),  Rs 7000 per month as stipend in addition to their commission. This is big boost for them in the State.
Marketing Manager Vivek Sharma, Manager Sales RS Jamwal, senior managers- Subash Chander, H L Pandita, Mr Slathia,  Manjit Singh and Karuna Kirti  were also present.
