CUJ organizes session on ‘Challenges & Recent Trends in World Trade’

JAMMU, Sept 1: Prof Nawal Kishore from IGNOU, New Delhi, delivered a lecture to the students of School of Business Studies in Central University of Jammu on the topic ‘Global Economy- Issues & Challenges.’
Quoting examples from International Economy, he explained the present economic conditions in India. Comparing Indian economy with other countries, he mesmerized the audience with his thought provoking session.
He emphasized on learning through active reading, active writing and active oration and explained the value chain in personality. Emphasizing on the need for excellence in life, he quoted Tom Peter that excellence is no more confined to four walls of the laboratory. It is pervasive and excellence needs to be practiced in all walks of life, he added.
Pointing towards growth in global economy i.e. production, trade and investment, he remarked that the growth in trade is much higher than growth in other two. Citing examples from China and South Korea, he emphasized the role of trade in the development of economy.
Referring to the skewness of world, he informed that Western Europe, South East Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand contribute to 83 percent of world wealth whereas 86 percent of world resources are consumed by 14 percent of world population. He further stated that how competitive we are globally and will determine our strength. Therefore the focus needs to be on development, innovation, productivity and competitive skills in youth, he added.
Earlier, Dr Jaya Bhasin, Head Department of HRM & TTM, highlighted the recent trends in world trade. Emphasizing on the recent developments in world economy, she focused on increasing role of service sector and remarkable growth in Asian Tiger. The students from the School of Business Studies atheistically participated in the session. The session was co-ordinated by Gowhar Rasool, Assistant Professor, HRM.
