Facilitate smooth movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has sought people’s cooperation in ensuring smooth movement of vehicles in Kashmir valley carrying essential commodities especially the petroleum products.
Chairing a joint meeting of the officers of FCS&CA and the representatives of Oil Companies here today to review the stock and supply position of essentials commodities in the Valley, the Minister  said that Jammu based Transport Associations are reluctant to send their trucks and tankers  to the Valley in view of the disturbances.
The Minister said that the issue relating to provision of security for smooth plying of vehicles carrying essential commodities on National Highway has also been discussed with the transport unions of Jammu and they have been assured that the Government will provide insurance cover to the drivers and vehicles.
The Minister assured the representatives of Oil Companies that the Government will take all necessary measures to facilitate smooth movement of oil tankers and other vehicles carrying essential commodities including rice, atta, sugar, K-oil, poultry birds, sheep and petroleum products to reach various destinations in the Valley.
Enquiring about the stock and supply position of rations in the Valley, the Minister stressed on ensuring adequate stock and supply of essential commodities before the Eid-ul-Azha.
Director, FCS&CA, Kashmir, Tassaduq Jeelani was also present in the meeting.
