Highlighting problems of refugees my priority: Khalsa

JAMMU, Sept 2: BJP MLC, Charanjit Singh Khalsa said that being the lone representative of Sikh community whose 95 people are displaced persons from PoJK, it is his utmost duty to raise their problems from time to time.
Talking to reporters here, today he said, the Sikh community in the State which suffered a lot during 1947 raiders attack and in 1965 war became refugees after leaving their properties in PoJK.
He said settlement of the problems of these refugees is his prime duty and not only this the implementation of National Minority Commission in the State, problems of border inhabitants, implementation of Punjabi language in J&K, regularization of refugee bastis in and outside notified areas, welfare in Transport Industry, Special status to the DPs, security and employment for wards of Kashmiri Sikhs still residing in Valley and compensation at par with the persons who abounded the Kashmir will be his priority.
Khalsa said that Union Government has granted Rs 2000 crore package to the PoJK refugees and it will be distributed in a disciplined manner among these hapless people as has been directed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
He said in this regard a convention will be held on September 9 at City Farms here in which all the political personalities, intellectuals, common Sikh Sangat have been requested to attend the same.
