RAJOURI, Sept 10: A youth hailing from Mendhar area of Poonch, was drowned in Rajouri river here this afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Sheraz Ahmed, son of Barkat Hussain , resident of Bhata Durian in Mendhar. The boy had gone to participate in recruitment rally organised by BSF at Rajouri. After undergoing the entire process, the boy was returning home. He went to take a bath in the nearby Rajouri river but he slipped into deep water and drowned.
His dead body was later fished out by police with the help of locals. The body was shifted for postmortem to District Hospital, Rajouri.
As no Ambulance was available in the hospital to shift the dead body to Bhata Durian, the relatives and family members of the deceased held protest and blocked road. However, later SHO intervened and the ambulance was provided to the family for shifting dead body after an hour. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
