NEW DELHI:  Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu today said the youth of Kashmir should pick books and pen instead of pelting stones on forces.

“The more we get education the better and more jobs we will get. We cannot get education by taking to stones but by holding a pen,” the Minister tweeted.

The tweet came in reaction to the appointment of Kashmiri youth Nabeel Ahmed Wani hailing from Udhampur, who topped the Border Security Force (BSF) examination and has been selected as Assistant Commander to safeguard the borders.

“Happy to note that Nabeel Ahmed Wani hailing from Udhampur, J&K, topped the BSF selection exam for officers,” Mr Naidu said, adding, “Mr Wani joined Assistant Commander of BSF to safeguard our boarders. Particularly happy about his statement.”

Earlier reacting to the stone pelting incidents that took place in the Valley, Mr Naidu had said that stone pelting on the security forces was not a solution to the Kashmir issue.

Mr Naidu said the people, who were instigating the youth and children to do such activities in the Valley, had to be answerable to them one day.  (AGENCIES)
