Jugal inaugurates Farmers Fair on Fasal Bima Yojana

JAMMU, Sept 12: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jammu under the agies of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu organized Awareness-cum Farmers Fair on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana at KVK Campus R.S.pura. The programme was inaugurated by Member Parliament Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma.
In his address, Jugal Kishore Sharma briefed the farmers that under the NDA Government a number of Centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) have been launched for the benefits of the farming community.  Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is the flagship programme of  Modi Government.
Jugal stressed upon the farmers to take maximum benefits from the schemes launched by Government and urged the field department to prepare a roadmap to cover maximum farmers under these schemes.
On the occasion, Daljit Singh Chib, vice chairman State Advisory Board for the Welfare of Kisans said Government  is committed to give maximum benefits to the farming community of the State.
Dr. Gagan Bhagat, MLA R.S. Pura highlighted the difficulties being faced by the farmers of the Border Constituency.
Prof. P.K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST  Jammu urged the farmers to be in regular touch with the SKUAST Jammu and Krishi Vigyan Kendras of the district. He assured that the Agricultural University and KVKs will make all efforts to bring latest technologies available elsewhere to the doorsteps of farmers. Dr. K.S. Risam Director Extension discussed the Centrally Sponsored Schemes useful for farmers. More than 500 farmers/farm women participated in the event.
The development departments namely Agriculture, horticulture, social forestry, sericulture, floriculture, animal husbandary, sheep husbandary, and various private sector companies viz., Sonilaka tractors, John Deere tractor, PCI, R K Sprayers, Actech India, Alpha Environment displayed their stalls in the fair and exhibited available technologies for the farmers. The department of Agriculture and ATMA, Jammu collaborated in the smooth conduct of the fair. The farmer and social groups of Jammu district such as Organic Basmati Growers, Potato Growers, Catholic Social Service Society, Sargam Group and Umeed etc. participated in the fair by raising their exhibits. A book on Centrally sponsored schemes was released on the occasion. The welcome address was given by Dr. R.K. Arora, Associate Director Extension & Incharge KVKs and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vikas Tandon, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Jammu. Dr Punit Choudhary Scientist Agroforestry conducted the proceeding of the farmer fair and Dr Rakesh Sharma Sr Scientist Agril. Extension coordinated Kisan Ghoshti and Farmer Scientist Interaction on the occasion.
