Reservation not charity but matter of participation: Khullar

JAMMU, Sept 12: Lambasting the PDP-BJP Government in the State for doing away with reservation in promotion, State Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president, Tarsem Lal Khullar, today said that reservation is not a charity but it’s the matter of participation.
Khullar said that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) stopped the reservation in promotion in Centre and other States where it is in power. “Moreover, the J&K Government in which BJP is also a coalition partner, closed about 1300 Government schools in Jammu villages where downtrodden people live”, he added.
“Besides, scholarships of poor children and the old pattern of ration supply were stopped and the poor people are suffering badly due to improper distribution of pension by the Government”, the State BSP president while addressing a constituency level meeting of party workers in Jammu.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Om Parkash Thappa, district BSP president, Jammu. A large number of party workers attended the meeting. The main agenda of the meeting was to strengthen the party based on the ideals of Dr BR Ambedkar and Manyar Kanshi Ram Ji.
Khullar further lambasted the department of Irrigation for not paying proper attention towards the cleanliness of canals and rivers. “More than two months have passed since the curfew has been implemented in Kashmir but neither the State Government nor the Central Government has taken any steps for the betterment of the people of Kashmir”, he added.
He informed that BSP is going to hold a mega rally on October 9 in connection with Pari Nirwan Divas of Manyar Kanshi Ram Sahib and the rally which will start from Kunjwani Chowk and conclude at Ambedkar Chowk.
