Monitor market regularly

Sir,
Refer the news item ‘Zulfkar calls for strict market checking to enforce prescribed rates’ DE Sept 10.
One fails to understand why the Government issues directives to its agencies to monitor the market prices on  occasion of festivals only and not throughout the year. One knows that shopkeepers, vendors make more ‘moolah’ during festivals, but do they spare the customers on other days. No, they do not spare the customers, come what may. The poor customers get fleeced day in and day out, with no one ready to listen to their pleas.
There was a time when shopkeepers, bakers, meat-sellers would display rate-list. But no such thing is visible now. Everybody charges as per his whims caring two hoots for the customers. These days poor customer runs here and there to fix a suitable deal for himself. The Government agencies hardly bother to see the volatile market prices. Adulteration in food items is another great menace which is being neglected by the authorities.  It is requested to the Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to direct the officials to monitor the market on regular basis. It should not be once in a blue moon affair.
Yours etc…
