PHE daily wagers stage protest, warn to stop water supply

JAMMU, Sept 10: PHE Daily wagers under the banner of All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Association today held a protest in support of their demands at PHE Division, Udhampur.
The workers from various PHE divisions of the district participated in the protest, which was led by District president, Udhampur.
While addressing the protesting daily wagers, Tilak Raj, one of their representatives, said that poor daily wagers of PHE including ITI trained, CP workers, Need based/Casual Labour, etc have been struggling for their regularization for last many years but every time they were befooled by fake assurances and nothing was done practically to regularize them as a result of which they (poor daily wagers) are facing acute problems.
He warned that if the demands of the association are not considered before September 14, then they will stop water supply in whole Jammu province from September 15 and for the consequences the Government will be responsible.
He further appealed all the daily wagers of PHE Department to get united and join the protest to press the Government to fulfill their demands, which include regularization of daily wagers working in the department for last seven years or more, benefit of regularization policy and release of salary to the land donors, who were engaged as daily wagers in the department in lieu of land and release of pending wages in favour of all daily wagers working in the department.
Meanwhile, All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers’ Association, Vijaypur unit submitted a memorandum of demands to the authorities concerned, stating that if their demands like regularization of daily wagers, CP workers, ITI trained workers and land case workers engaged from 1994 to till date and release of pending wages of the daily wagers are not considered favourably before September 14, then the workers will stop water supply in whole Jammu province.
