Ganesh Chaturdashi festival culminates with immersion ceremony

JAMMU, Sept 29: The 10 day long Ganesh Chaturdashi festival commonly known as Ganesh Mahotsav concluded today with immersion of Ganesh idols here in river Tawi   and Chanderbagha (Chenab) at Akhnoor by the devotees.
The festival started on September 19 and special Murtis of clay of Lord Ganesh were made by the devotees which were worshiped daily during the festival period. The pandals were installed in different Mohallas and markets across the Jammu by the devotees of Lord Ganesha. These pandals were fully decorated and the pooja -archana was performed daily with full religious fervour and gaiety.
Besides, Jammu the festival was celebrated at Samba, R S Pura, Bishnah, Vijaypur, Kathua, Hira Nagar, Akhnoor, Udhampur and other places of the Jammu region with full enthusiasm and religious fervour.
The idols of Lord Ganesha fully decorated in load carriers, tractor trolleys,  mini buses and tangas were taken to Akhnoor from various parts of Jammu and Samba district for immersion today with large number of devotees accompanying them. The devotees enroute were reciting bhajan -kirtan in praise of Lord Ganesha to invoke his blessings.
The devotees were served prashad after the immersion ceremony. However some devotees immersed the idols of Lord in Surya Putri river Tawi also.
The 10 day long Ganesh festival was also celebrated at Gokal Dham Ambika Vihar Gole Gujral under the supervision of Swami Gokal Nath Ji Mahraj and Mata Sheela Ji by the devotees.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram daily to take part in the pooja -archana  and seek blessings.
On the concluding day of the festival today hundreds of devotees joined the special pooja and also in the immersion ceremony of the idol of Lord Ganesha at river Chander Bagha at Akhoor.
During the festival days Swami Ji highlighted the significance of Ganesh Chaturdashi festival and said though in different ways, the festival is celebrated all over India.
