JAMMU, Sept 10: Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with St John Ambulance (India) Regional Centre, Jammu today celebrated “World First Aid Day” at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu.
On this day, Red Cross commenced four-day First Aid Training Programme in which more than 50 students of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and University of Jammu are taking part.
The training is being imparted under the directions of Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu (Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region) by a team of doctors, which includes Dr Bias Dev (Senior Ortho Surgeon, GMC Jammu), Dr Rajinder Thappa (Causality Medical Officer, GMC Jammu) and Dr Simriti (Medical Officer of Red Cross Dispensary).
The main objective of the First Aid Training Programme is to make every one aware how to protect themselves during accidents, border firing and how to provide immediate First Aid to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters.
Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region threw light on the importance of First Aid Training and impressed upon the First Aid trainees to help the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First Aid and save precious lives.
Prominent among those present were Prof Ashiq Malik, Incharge, Red Cross Unit, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Vijay Magotra, Executive Committee Member, District Red Cross Society, Jammu.
