Intellectuals appeal for peace in Valley

JAMMU, Sept 13: The speakers at an intellectuals’ meet held at Trikuta Nagar here appealed the members of civil society and political activists to come forward and help in restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The intellectuals’ meet was organised at Basant Vihar in Trikuta Nagar, under Gandhi Nagar Constituency of Jammu city. It was chaired by Sant Baba Swanjit Singh, head priest of Tapasthan Gurdwara Manji Sahib. The meeting was coordinated by Nitish Mahajan, PDP Zonal president from Gandhi Nagar.
While speaking on the occasion, Baba Swanjit Singh appealed the members of civil society in Kashmir, political and social activists and trade bodies to play their role in restoration of peace in Kashmir valley. He also appealed the people in violence hit Valley to maintain calm so that no innocent person faces inconvenience or loss.
“We should take into consideration that many jawans have sacrificed their lives for us. We must protect the legacy for which martyrs sacrificed their lives and also preserve it. We should maintain peace and it is the need of the hour,” Sant Baba Swanjit Singh maintained.
The religious preacher further emphasized on the role of youth in rebuilding India through corruption free politics. He said the youth of the country have the responsibility to change and it is time for them to join politics.
Several eminent speakers including Nitish Mahajan also stressed for the restoration of peace in Kashmir valley.
