JAMMU, Sept 9: Justice Reddy Commission detailed by Government of India to go into the anomalies in the sanctioned form of One Rank One Pension (OROP) as pointed out by Ex-Servicemen, visited Jammu today.
The Commission was accompanied by senior Defence officers including Air Vice-Marshal SM Subhani and a team of officers from the Army and Navy Headquarters.
The event was organized by the Air Force Station, Satwari and Station Commander Ashutosh Lal welcomed the guests. Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal gave the opening address covering the historical background of the 40 years of OROP struggle supported by pictorial details.
A 45 minutes long power point presentation was made by Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Senior Advisor JKESL and J&K State Director of the War Decorated India. He pointed out four major anomalies collected from cross section of Ex-Servicemen in addition to the six anomalies handed over to the Commission by Ministry of Defence.
The major issues were automatic equalization of pension on annual basis, pension to reservists with OROP benefit and treating all honorary ranks alike in grant of pension and OROP benefit. This was followed up by individuals presenting their views and suggestions.
The closing address was given by Justice L Narsimahan Reddy, Ex Chief Justice of Patna High Court. Director Rajya Sainik Board Brig Harcharan Singh presented the vote of thanks.
