JAMMU, Sept 14: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has constituted task force to keep vigil especially in landslide prone locations on 13-km track to Bhawan from Katra base camp situated in Trikuta foothills of Reasi district.
”We have constituted a special task force, which keeps vigil on track from Ban Ganga to Bhawan particularly at the locations which are more prone to landslides,” Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO, Shrine Board told reporters at the sidelines of a function at village Kakrayal in Katra.
The CEO said the task force if finds any vulnerable spot on the track, experts from the Board are being informed and they are immediately rushed to the spot to find a way out so that untoward like incident can be timely prevented. He however, said once in a day, the task force makes a visit to the track.
He further said the Vaishno Devi tracks will soon also have Wifi facility for the pilgrims, adding, ”our proposals are underway with various telecom service providers and once everything gets cleared, the wifi service will be made operational en route Bhawan.”
He also said two Out Patient Departments under the banner of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital, Kakryala, Katra will be started in Jammu and Udhampur and the patients diagnosed at these clinics will be treated at the hospital accordingly by a team of specialised doctors.
Meanwhile, with an aim to reach out people in the remote belts of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital today launched a Mobile Breast Cancer Screening bus service, which will screen people for breast cancer and educate them on early detection.
The bus is equipped with Mammography unit. Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, flagged-off the mobile unit with support from Infosys Foundation.
”For educating public, a TV will be installed outside the bus playing breast cancer awareness videos speaking at the launch of the Mobile Mammography Unit,” Sahu said after launching the service.
He further said, ”the mobile mammography unit is a giant step towards reaching out to the masses in order to create awareness about breast cancer and take it to remote locations where facilities to diagnose and treat cancer is not there”.
”This initiative by the hospital team will certainly give access to timely diagnosis and treatment to more number of patients,” he asserted.
He further said, “We want to encourage more number of people to come forward and get themselves screened as this is about health and nothing about social stigma”.
The Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Unit will be deployed at the various cancer screening camps in and around Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile Dr Gitanjali Gupta, Radiologist at the Hospital said, “Breast cancer is on the rise and we need to take measures to ensure early diagnosis”.
According to a recent report, approximately 1.5 lakh patients are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in India, she said and added, ”the mobile mammography unit is an excellent initiative by Narayana Health in reaching out to a larger population and taking cancer care to those areas where cancer specialists are not available.”
