KATHUA, Sept 16: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Ch. Lal Singh today said that upgradation of infrastructure for providing better amenities to the people is high on the agenda of present Government and all out efforts are being made to provide better road connectivity, clean drinking water, uninterrupted electricity and up-graded educational and healthcare facilities specially in the rural areas .
This was stated by the Minister at a public grievance redressal camp held at Dhar Dugnoo in tehsil Basholi today.
Ch. Lal Singh said that State Government has already given nod to road web projects under PMGSY and the work on identified areas will commence soon. He informed that tenders have been floated for the 23 Km Trimbloo – Dheota road link and 2.5 Km Giali – Hotar road under PMGSY and work will commence at the earliest.
The Minister asked the people to extend full cooperation to executing agencies in implementing the development projects in their areas.
Lal Singh said that to promote eco-tourism in the area, necessary infrastructure will be created by the department. He encouraged the people to undertake tree plantation drives on vacant land and work in tandem with the Forest Department to protect these plantations.
Highlighting several social security and welfare schemes launched by the Government, the minister said that people should avail the benefits of these schemes and stressed upon the concerned departments to ensure that people are kept aware about these programmes.
Several deputations from Kund, Dheota and Dhar Dugnoo apprised the Minister about their problems mostly pertaining to roads, water and power supply, irrigation, drainage, health and education sector.
Chairman PCB Ravi Kesar, Director Social Forestry Arun Tickoo, Director FPF R K Tiwari, MD SFC Suresh Gupta, DFOs and other officers of sister wing accompanied the minister during the visit.
