JAMMU, Sept 17: Crime Branch has registered a case against two fraudsters Bashir Ahmed, son of Hashim Din of Rani Talab Digiana and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Majid of Bari-Brahmna.
According to an official spokesman, one Narinder Gupta, son of Kishori Lal Gupta of Bathindi came into contact with Bashir Ahmed, son of Hashim Din of Rani Talab Digiana and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Majid of Bari-Brahmna in the year 2013, who offered him a piece of land measuring 50 kanal falling under Khasra No. 812, 771 and 773 situated at Smailpur Bari Brahmna and took an amount of Rs 65 lakh.
However, despite taking such a huge amount both the accused persons neither provided the possession of the land nor returned the money as such extorted money from him by resorting to fraudulent means.
On the receipt of this complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated in the Crime Branch and it came to the fore that Bashir Ahmed and Mohammad Rafiq being habitual criminals and mischief mongers were already involved in various criminal activities and their names were indexed as history sheeters in the records of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
“Both the accused have already duped and extorted a lot of money from many other persons and had extended threats to the victims for dire consequences and the money taken illegally has been utilized in construction of their palatial houses”, said the spokesman of Crime Branch, adding they have been booked under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B RPC.
