KATRA, Sept 17: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that Government is contemplating to review the security and other privileges given to separatists in Kashmir valley.
Talking to reporters at the sidelines of the Party’s four -day training workshop which is underway here, the Deputy Chief Minister said that both the State and Centre Governments will review it and take decision accordingly.
Dr Singh, while replying to a volley of questions said that stone pelters will not be spared and tough action will be taken against them to maintain law and order in the Valley as people have suffered a lot on this account in last two months and no body will be allowed to take the public to ransom.
Showing concern towards the student community whose education has suffered a lot due to the closure of educational institutions for last two months now, Dr Singh said that all steps will be taken to open the educational institutions in Kashmir valley as early as possible so that the students don’t suffer any more now.
He said there is no threat to the present Government in the State in view of the yesterday’s Kargil developments where Congress and PDP entered into alliance for LAHDC Kargil or the recent resignation of PDP Parliament Member Tariq Hamid Karra. He said both issues will have no impact on the coalition in the State as these are internal matters of PDP.
Maintaining that BJP is committed to give corruption free Government to the State, he said there is not any allegation of corruption against any BJP Minister or Legislator. The present coalition is pledged to root out corruption from public life and in this connection 62 bureaucrats were shown the door last year, he added.
While referring to the issue of Baridars, he said BJP has always supported their issues and our stand is the same even today.
Earlier addressing the training workshop Dr. Singh spoke on good governance and said that the aim of the BJP-PDP coalition is to provide corruption free, accountable and transparent Government in the State. In this regard many steps were already taken by the Government, he added
He said various measures were taken to make administration responsive and to address promptly and effectively the grievances of all sections of the society. He also expressed the view that the present Government in the State is taking a keen interest to initiate new development projects and it is working for the welfare of the common people, particularly the down trodden, poor, marginalized communities and the womenfolk.
