JAMMU, Sept 20: While strong protests were taken out against Pakistan at Poonch, Jammu, Udhampur and other parts of the region, several organizations condemned the Uri terror attack and paid tributes to the martyred soldiers.
In Poonch city, the activists of Bajrang Dal, Vishav Hindu Parishad and Sikh Youth Front held strong protest near Pritam Park and then took out a large rally raising slogans against Pakistan for supporting terrorists. Sourabh Sudan from BD, Nishu Gupta from VHP Sarabjeet Singh from SYF were leading.
After passing through various markets, they reached at main chowk where they burnt the effigy of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief. They demanded direct action against Pakistan.
Residents from across the Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar and adjoining areas gathered in large numbers at Bahu Plaza park at Jammu to pay homage to the martyrs of Uri attack, in which 18 soldiers were martyred.
The local citizens Naresh Sharma and Hardeep Bali claimed that they wanted to create awareness among citizens about security of our soldiers. The death of a soldier is not only a family’s loss but that of the entire nation, they added
Candle-lighting ceremony to remember martyrs of Uri attack along with a small patriotic cultural program was the agenda of the program. Sona Mehta, another citizen said, “This is a day when all come to this place to give a token of respect to the martyrs who lost their lives just to save us. At least, we all gather here to remember those soldiers and their sacrifices.”
Meanwhile, Member Parliament and veteran Congress leader Dr Karan Singh paid tributes to the martyr soldiers and condemned the Uri terrorists’ attack on Army camp. He also conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar along with his staff paid floral tributes to the martyrs of Uri terrorists attack.
Beopar Mandal Tikri in Udhampur held protest demonstration against Pakistan and demanded that Govt must take appropriate action against Pakistan for this cowardice act.
In the wake of Uri attack, Anti-Terrorist Front India National president Viresh Shandilya has demanded a concrete and decisive action against Pakistan. Shandilya has said that the bodies of terrorists should not be buried but burnt on a heap of garbage in public view at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. He said if Government is not capable to burn the terrorists so Union and Jammu-Kashmir Government should give this task to Anti-Terrorist Front India.
The members of J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) assembled at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Ambphalla under the chairmanship of Ved Gandotra, the president of the Association to pay homage to the martyrs of Uri attack.
A two-minute silence was observed in the memory of all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation.
Speaking on the occasion, the members condemned the attack on Army base by Pak based terrorists and asked the Central Government to retaliate in the solid manner so that nobody dares to repeat it. They said that Pakistan is a coward who attacked on our soldiers when they were sleeping which is very shameful.
Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) today appealed Government of India and Pakistan to hold talks to end stalemate between them over Kashmir which has taken many innocent lives.
As per a statement, JMF leaders under the chairmanship of its president, Imran Qazi and its general secretary Shuja Zaffar held a meeting to review the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir following militant attack in Uri where 18 Army jawans were killed.
The meeting was attended by JMF members including Amjad Malik, Hanif Choudhary, Aashiq Illahi, Habib Sheikh and Rashid Ahmed. They condemned militant attack at Uri.
All Migrant Camp Coordin-ation Committee (AMCCC) in a meeting held at Janipur under the chairmanship of D R Pandita condemned the Uri terror attack in which 18 soldiers attained martyrdom. The members demanded that NIZ team should investigate the matter.
Lions Club RS Pura, led by Natha Ram, president also condemned Uri attack. The members paid floral tributes to the martyrs in a meeting held today.
Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association in a meeting held today under the leadership of Sub Maj ( Retd) Thoru Ram Mandi paid tributes to Uri martyrs and condmned this cowardice act in a strongest words.
Congress leader from Vijaypur, Arun Sharma organised a meeting today in which members paid rich tributes to the Uri martyrs. Mr Sharma condemned the incident and said that whole country is behind the family members of the martyrs. He demanded that Indian Govt should smash terrorists training camps in PoK.
