NEW DELHI: India today said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s attempt to internationalise the issue at the UNGA forum had come a cropper as he had so far not found support from any of the participating countries, and also from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The much trumpeted dossier on Kashmir given to the UN Secretary General by Mr Sharif had been ignored as was evident from the read out given by the Secretary General’s Office, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said here while replying to a question at the weekly press briefing.
”It makes no mention of the dossier. It does not talk about Secretary General wanting to intervene in J&K. In fact, the Secretary General has very wisely said that this issue needs to be settled bilaterally,” Mr Swarup said.
Moreover, Mr Swarup pointed out that two days had passed since the high level debate in the UN General Assembly started and in each of these days, 25 countries have spoken but so far no one had referred to the issue that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif devoted 80 per cent of his speech to. (AGENCIES)
