Govt has failed in stopping illegal stone quarrying at Abhinav Gupt cave: RIK

JAMMU, Sept 30: A meting of Roots in Kashmir-(RIK) J&K was held under the chairmanship of Vir Saraf to take the stock of the situation vis-a-vis Abhinavgupt caves located at Beeru in District Budgam of Kashmir valley.
The meeting showed concern against the apathy shown by the Government in failing to stop the illegal stone quarrying around the holy cave where Abhinav Gupt an incarnation of Lord Shiva and a world renowned Scholar of Shaivism had worshiped.
Despite raising this issue at the appropriate forums which matter, the Government agencies have not moved a step to stop the illegal quarrying and securing the caves which are the historical monuments and heritage centres. Members expressed concern at the stoic attitude shown by the Government. It seems that Government is deliberately adopting indifferent attitude towards the place of heritages which has a great religious significance for Hindus in general and Kashmiri Pandits in particular said Suneel Kaul an Executive Member.
Members warned the Government of consequences if it failed to protect the places of Heritage in Kashmir valley.
Members authorized the convener, Vir Saraf to take all the necessary steps to get this site secured.
Vir Saraf briefed the members about the representations made to different Government agencies including Chief Ministers office. It is a matter of great regret that Government is not taking this issue seriously.
He assured the members that very soon RIK (JK) will take decisive steps to get this site secured. Vir Saraf asked the members to be prepared for sacrifices to save this holy cave.
Other members who spoke on the occasion were Rahul Pandita, Rajesh Bhat, Krishen Bhan, Rahul Koul and Sanjay Kaul.
